Loflin, a Georgia grad, faced Brandon Knight and struggled with the energy of the large crowd, falling 2 down through four holes. Leng, who typically warms up with a range of shots, struggled with accuracy on the West Course, but still managed to take an early lead and close out his 6-and-5 victory with four straight birdies. Reilly, a rising sophomore at Auburn, drew inspiration from his high-school basketball experiences, playing in front of a rowdy crowd and dropping 20 points in overtime.
The semifinalists will face off in the following order: Loflin vs. Knight, Whaley vs. Bresnu, Leng vs. Turner, and Reilly vs. Lugiano. The tournament continues with the promise of more excitement and the potential for a few more records to be broken.
