Junior Leader Training Scholarships
One of the primary objectives of the Boy Scouts is to
help boys develop leadership skills. An excellent way to help accomplish
this is for a scout to attend the week long Junior Leader Training program
offered by BSA at various times and locations throughout the year.
As a way to support this important activity, Troop 575
offers full and/or partial scholarships to cover tuition for scouts taking
the week long program. Scouts interested in these scholarships should
submit a one paragraph write up to the Troop Committee explaining why they
are interested in attending Junior Leader Training.
In return for the scholarship, the scout agrees to
accomplish the following upon completion of JLT:
- Speak to the troop about the experience
- Lead the troop in an exercise which helps teach
scouts an element of leadership
- Serve in a major leadership position approved by
the Scoutmaster within 12 months of receiving the training. Examples of
acceptable positions are:
SPL
ASPL
Junior Assistant
Scoutmaster
Troop Guide
Patrol Leader
Campmaster
SPL for week-long younger
Scout Summer Camp
